Spicy BBQ Shrimp Tacos

Love the bold spicy flavors in this awesome bbq sauce AND that it only takes minutes to make! This simple spicy bbq sauce also goes well on grilled chicken, steak, mushrooms, and tofu. Such a nice balance of flavors with the spice from the shrimp and the creaminess from the mashed avocado!



1 lb. peeled and deveined medium size shrimp, tails removed

1-2 tbs.olive oil (I like to use a light flavored OO).

4-5 bamboo or metal skewers

Spicy BBQ Sauce:

¼ cup ketchup

1 ½ tbs. ay chihuahua hot sauce

¼ tsp. cumin powder

½ tsp. sea salt

¼ tsp. black pepper

1 tbs. honey

1 tbs. fresh lime juice


1 large hass avocado, rough mashed

Squeeze of lime and sprinkle of salt to taste.


Spicy BBQ Sauce: In a small pot, place all the Spicy BBQ Sauce ingredients listed above and turn heat on low-med, stir as needed. Simmer for about 3 minutes. This is a super quick and simple bbq sauce!

Heat Grill Pan on High Heat. You want the pan nice and hot since you are wanting to get a nice grilled edge to the shrimp. Skewer Shrimp on bamboo skewers and lightly brush both sides with oil and season with salt and pepper.

Give your grill pan a light brush of oil right before placing your shrimp on so you ensure they don't stick. Place shrimp on grill and cook for 1 ½ to 2 minutes per side. Once cooked, brush the spicy BBQ sauce on both sides.

Grab a grilled tortilla and add your avo, shrimp, and top with chopped cilantro and onions.
